The #1 Workout Sabotager Is….

Okay, so you’ve planned for a 3pm workout. It’s 45minutes long. You’ve got your exercise clothing on and your water bottle nearby. You’re ready to workout, but there’s one more thing to do – put your phone on airplane mode. 

It’s 2023, and from what I see in my classes, with clients, and with myself, the cellphone is the #1 workout sabotager. It has a tendency to intrude, interrupt, and disrupt. I know there are times when we are “on call” and need to be reachable, but more often than not, that is not the case. Be a wellness rockstar when it comes to cellphone access and usages and get into the habit of putting your phone in airplane mode.

I talk so much about focus and grounding and the feeling body and being present. These are truly so so important. Cellphones enter the scene and are like nuclear bombs to these important things – one alert from your phone and all is wiped out. 

I am constantly policing myself when it comes to my phone, and I suggest you police yourself too. It takes a bit of discipline to go without it, turn it off, or restrict its usage, just like it takes a bit of discipline to eat clean and regularly workout.

Technology should help us, not hinder us and the only way that’s going to happen is if we establish (strict!) boundaries. And remember, that phone works for you, not the other way around. ðŸ’•
