Three Years of Grey Hair (Here’s What I’ve Realized)
I still get a lot of attention for having grey hair. Pretty much every single day, a woman comes up to me when I’m out and about to tell me, “Oh, I love your hair…wish I was brave enough to do that.”
Well, we all know why it is considered “brave” to not dye one’s hair when it’s grey and you’re female. Because grey hair tells the world, “I’m aging.” There’s an unwritten rule that says we are supposed to hide the fact that we are getting older. Time marches on for everything else on the planet, but women are supposed to be stuck in time.
Now, with three years of grey under my hat, I guess I am sort of brave. What started off as me just staying true to myself, has turned into an act of bravery, and I fully realize how major it is to show the world my aging self. However, my aging self is also my authentic self.
I often witness women lose self-confidence at certain points of life, and I’m sure it’s by design. Without confidence we are vulnerable to their influences, and we’ll spend money, time and energy on their stuff.
For some women, coloring their hair gives them self-confidence, while I was honestly losing my self-confidence by coloring mine! That’s the God’s honest truth, and losing confidence is what we should be fighting against, not aging.
So stay empowered. Be brave. whatever that may look like for you! Do whatever it takes to keep your self-confidence intact. Exercise can play a major role, but it’s your attitude and outlook that matter most.
The time is now to feel good, look great and shine bright. Let’s Move!
