Call Me Crazy

Yes, movement is movement, and we certainly have signature moves here at LET’S MOVE!, but there are three underlying signature components that are woven into every workout. They make a huge difference to our overall well-being, and I think they are worth highlighting: 

There’s no knit picking. Nothing ever has to be perfect. The only thing I want to see is a mind/body connection. I don’t care if you can’t point your toes much, and no worries if you have to keep your knees slightly bent or take a few water breaks. If the mind/body connection is there, you’re moving mindfully, and all is well. 

There’s a contribution to a positive sense of self. Hey, you’re moving. You’re taking action. You’re proactive when it comes to looking good, feeling great and functioning optimally . BRAVO! I believe a fitness class – one that we are choosing to take, paying for, doing on our own time – should always always always lift us up.

Stretch is a star. It is not an opening act, nor is it the cleanup crew. Stretch shares the main stage with strength and cardio. The three of them get equal billing. They appear on the stage separately at times, but it’s a bonanza when all three are up there together. In many workouts, stretch is an afterthought, or it’s performed mindlessly and to me, this is so not cool. 

Call me crazy, but these three components are non-negotiable. Remember, movement is movement, but the mind behind the movement is really what matters most. Deep thought for a Thursday 😉. Hope you have the best day ever. Let’s Move!
