Breath & Body
Way back, as a teenager in the late eighties, I was so spiritually pumped up by, and physically invigorated by, aerobics class. Aerobics was sort of like my lower middle class, upstate New York, suburban version of a southern baptist church service, energizing to body and soul. Movement has become more sophisticated now, but at its root, it’s still about energy. Never forget – energy is at the root.
It’s important to remember this about exercise – especially these days, where there are so many “fancy” options. We can get caught up in technique. We can get too cerebral with rep counting, heart rate monitoring, and protein obsessions. We can start believing we don’t already have everything we need to be fit, so we buy those sneakers and that machine and that diet pill. But wedo already have everything we need. We’ve got breath and body.
Kids are our energy role models. They intrinsically know this when then run circles around a table at a restaurant. (They are doing just fine without a gym membership, Lulu Lemon apparel or a personal trainer!)
So think of your daily movement session as your energetic foundation. It invigorates. It raises vibration. It sets you up for an inspired day. If you ever feel overwhelmed or confused about fitness, or you sense a program is too complicated or mentally taxing, take a step back and remember, it’s about energy, and you’ve already got everything you need to manifest more of it –breath and body.
