Breathe In. Breathe Out. Repeat.

We breathe in through the nose or the mouth. That air goes into our lungs. Then the oxygen from that air gets dispersed via the blood to every cell of the body. When we exhale, we breathe out mostly carbon dioxide, which is unwanted and unneeded, making room in our cells for the next big inhale. It’s simple, yet miraculous.  In essence, the whole body breathes.

“When you feel like life is out of focus, always return to the basics of life. Breathing. No breath, no life.” – Mr. Miyagi, The Karate Kid

“You cannot breathe deeply and worry at the same time.” – Sonia Choquette

“One conscious breath in and out is meditation.” – Eckhart Tolle

One Minute Breathing Meditation

  1. Remove any distractions…turn off the phone, close the door, put away any books and/or any screens, etc.
  2. Breathe in through your nose (if possible).
  3. Elongate the inhale.
  4. Slow down the exhale.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 at least five more times.
