Add an Earthquake to the list
A man carrying a long ladder walked between me and my students midway through the very first aerobics class I ever taught at age 18. It was awkward to say the least! Since then, so many unplanned, quirky things have occurred during my classes, from power outages to chipmunks scurrying over people’s bodies while they were lying in shavasana. When I was working for Club Med in the nineties, someone sat down on their mat 20minutes into class, lit up a cigarette, and took a smoke break (she was French!).
My newest memorable moment occurred in last Friday’s class – there was an earthquake. It was a loud, low pitched rumbling noise, coupled with the ground shaking for about 8seconds straight…on the east coast of the USA, no less! The earthquake got me reminiscing about all the awkward stuff I’ve endured during my classes over the years, and 99.99percent of the time, I just kept going.
Incidents, like the ones mentioned above, made me lose my train of thought and turned my face beet red. They got me flustered and frazzled – and mortified – but ultimately, I regrouped and continued.
Life is unpredictable, what’s a girl to do? Keep going.
This pertains to everything. Any “out of our control” occurrences might delay us or sidetrack us, but they don’t necessarily have to stop us. Our job is to keep the vision, and keep on keepin’ on.
Just when I thought I’d seen it all, the universe sends an earthquake. 😂 Wow, what a time to be alive. We are playing the long game, folks. That means, keep going and Let’s Move!
