you’re the one you’ve been waiting for
I had been seeing some form of the word “discouragement” in print a lot, and after like the tenth time seeing it, it held my attention. I found it odd that that word kept popping up so often.
Webster’s dictionary defines discouragement as having lost hope or confidence. As I pondered the “why” of it showing up in my world, I came to the conclusion that lately, I had been so so discouraged. The universe was simply waking me up to my own emotion. I’m naturally a very upbeat, optimistic person, and I don’t think I had ever really felt such widespread and deep levels of discouragement before, and because it was so foreign to me, I needed the word to be spelled out again and again to consciously acknowledge it.
So yes, I have absolutely lost confidence in many things, but there is a silver lining: the discouragement “out there” has drawn me towards encouragement within.
Webster’s defines encouragement as the action of giving someone hope and confidence. Well, that’s what I’m doing for myself, and I’m feeling more and more empowered by the minute!
February is upon us. It’s a new month and a clean slate. For these next 28days and beyond, let’s choose to turn discouragement into encouragement. Right now is the perfect time to embrace a big truth – one that we all need to embrace sooner or later – you’re the one you’ve been waiting for.
