Three Habits

An overly ambitious New Year’s resolution? Don’t do it! In the past, I’ve made this mistake myself, and I’ve watched from afar too many people get defeated – and frankly, worse off – from lofty resolutions that are impossible to sustain. Vowing to run five miles everyday at dawn might seem valiant, but it turns into a daunting, high-pressured commitment real fast.

However, as a self-improvement fanatic, I wholeheartedly believe in avowing to make a change, so here are my top three resolutions. WARNING: they are basic (but mighty). Turn them into habits and watch – by this time next year,  you will have moved the needle.

1. Prioritize the hydration habit. Most adults walk the Earth dehydrated. This creates lethargic energy and is bad for the brain, the skin and all of the internal organs. Proper hydration opens the floodgates of looking good, feeling great and shining bright.

2. Move, some how, some way, every single day. Remove the “all or nothing” mentality when it comes to exercise and you will feel less stressed and way more competent. If a 15minute walk is all you’ve got the time for, great. No shame, just move.

3. Get serious about organization. As a personal trainer, I’ve been in so many homes, and one thing I know for certain is: organized people are healthier people. Tidy and clutter-free living conditions equate to enhanced well-being.
