Tap Into Your Tenacity

I’ve watched many people give up too soon. They feel as though they’ve run out of steam when it comes to getting in shape, or they’ve hit a seemingly insurmountable roadblock and believe it’s a sign from the universe to throw in the towel. I can’t emphasis enough that this thinking is complete and utter hogwash. Not only does it stop you in your tracks, it can also do a number on your self-esteem. There comes a time where you must tap into your tenacity.
Here are five key factors to doing just that:
1. Focus on yourself. Don’t worry about what other people are doing and don’t compare yourself to anyone else either. Everyone is unique. You have your own personal “formula” – and timing – for success.
2. Find workouts and dietary strategies that are sustainable. A 5mile run at 6am is not sustainable for me, nor is “the grapefruit diet”  so these ‘extremes” are not on my radar. Learn yourself a little, and figure out what works best for you when it comes to diet and exercise.
3. Get around people who encourage you to keep at it! Perhaps this is the most crucial of all, and this is where a personal trainer or a health coach can be instrumental. The voices around you should be cheerleaders.
4. Be patient. I often tell my clients “give yourself a year” when it comes to real lasting change. Rome wasn’t built in a day!
5. When or if you are on the brink of quitting, use the affirmation, “I’m tenacious.”  This affirmation has worked so well for me – I know it will help you keep on keeping’ on.

We all need tenacity when it comes to wellness today. Remember, your goals are closer than you think. Keep going
