Strength is a life skill
Groceries. Laundry baskets. Potted plants. Toddlers and pets. What do these things all have in common? They are weights and we’ve gotta lift ’em! That’s right…no matter who you are or what your vocation is, everyday somehow somewhere, you and I are lifting weights. Strength is a life skill.
Thus, every single time you embark on a strength training class at Let’s Move!it’s helping you: 1. be strong and capable in life, 2. integrate muscles so when you do lift heavy things in life you do not injure yourself (and it actually feels good), and 3. build a balanced body, because asymmetrical strength becomes a problem down the road.
Taking 15, 20, 30 or 45minutes to mindfully strengthen your body, using light hand weights or simply your own body weight, is the enemy of asymmetry because it helps even out imbalances. Most people have a dominant side and most people have a stronger front body and a weaker back body – no shame…that’s just the way it goes! So our goal isn’t just to be strong, it’s also to have integrated and even strength. Today, when you are doing our recommended workout of the day, which is Pilates Strong, notice: 1. you are getting stronger, 2. your muscles are getting more integrated, and 3. your body is becoming more symmetrical. It’s legitimate self-improvement, legitimate empowered wellness, and definitely worth your while.
