One-Trick Pony

A favorite word of mine, one that I’ve been taking a liberty with and applying to movement, is adaptogenic. It’s a word often associated with herbal medicine, specifically when an herb does whatever is need in order to create harmony in the body. Licorice root for example, can either increase energy levels in the body, providing a bit of pep, or it can lower cortisol levels, helping it calm down. To me, “adaptogenic” means do what’s needed in order to maintain a feel good state. Yes to preventing mood swings. Yes to stepping off the energy rollercoasters. Yes to managing stress.

Exercise ain’t a one-trick pony – it’s an adaptogenic! That 20minute Pilates class can:
A. eradicate a blue mood
B. boost energy (better than a coffee)
C. reduce stress
D. one, two or all of the above

(D is the correct answer BTW 🥳)

The thrivers of the world, especially thriving women, exude high amounts of empowerment by utilizing movement and taking advantage of its adaptogenic qualities. Every single day, you and I can feel good, look great and shine bright, by moving our bodies in just right way. We can adjust our workout’s genre, duration, intensity, pace, location, the time of day and even the temperature and lighting of our workout spaces can be adapted.

Working out isn’t a chore, it’s a wellness tool. Working out shouldn’t feel like a dentist appointment. It should feel like an opportunity….an opportunity to help yourself.
