Fool Me Twice?
I vividly remember the “fat-free” trend of the early nineties. There was a fat-free cookie brand, called Snackwell, that was all the rage. Well, Snackwell’s were filled with chemicals and were extremely high in sodium. People turned on those cookies after a bit once they realized they were doing more harm that good.
This scenario has played out again and again in the health world. Remember Fen-Pehn, the weight loss pill? Coke Zero? SlimFast shakes? They were all pushed quite heavily to women. There was a time when you couldn’t open a magazine without seeing a SlimFast advertisement, and Coke Zero, endorsed by a slew of celebrity athletes, held a coveted commercial spot during the 2006 Super Bowl. They all had negative effects on the body.
My point in mentioning these products is to ponder the question, What’s being pushed on us now? Creatine? Peptides? GLP-1s? In ten years time, will they still be hot? I think not. Don’t be fooled.
The true blue building blocks of wellness are movement, consuming vitamin- and mineral-rich foods, proper rest, and stress management, etc. These building blocks have withstood the test of time for a reason – they work. They offer no negative side effects. They promote longevity. Combined, I consider them to be The Real Deal Method. No shortcuts, no substitutes… just keeping us shining bright (and keeping the doctor away!).
We’ve entered an AI era where technology and science are supposedly “doing things better” but newsflash: the human body is not a robot, so the laws of nature still apply to us.
