Faith Over Fear
I am not in denial. 2020 has been the strangest – and most trying – year of my life, but I’m still smiling because I choose faith over fear. How is that possible when fear is practically oozing out of our laptops?!? I’ve narrowed it down to two simple steps.
Step One is to take it day by day. I sit with my daily planner (it’s paper, not digital) in the morning and come up with a productive but restorative strategy for my day. Yes, I want to accomplish things…I want to teach my classes and do my work and take care of my son. I also want to fit in self-care modalities that feed my soul and diffuse stress. It’s up close and personal, as I intentionally set the tone for each day.
Step Two is to immerse yourself in high vibrations. The woods! The beach! Your backyard! With positive friends and family! Your pets! A good book! Exercise! Remember, high vibrations feel good and give you energy.
On the flip side, low vibrations, feel bad and steal your energy, so it is imperative that you avoid all forms of fear-mongering. That includes certain people, certain places and pretty much all media. (I was at the dentist last week and he had a news show playing in the room and I politely asked him to change it to HGTV…and he did!) It also means don’t sit around for too long – get up and move!
I’ve instructed every single one of my personal training clients to get picky and be intentional. If you can set the tone for your day and surround yourself with nothing but high vibes, YOU CAN FLOURISH in the midst of chaos.
