Cultivating Workout Enthusiasm

“Let’s go!” “Let’s eat!” “Let’s do it!” Let’s Move! Yes, let’s! There is a sense of enthusiasm in phrases like these. It’s precisely that sense of enthusiasm I want to convey in classes and on my website because it makes it way easier to get to your workout, and enjoy it.

Workout enthusiasm is a mindset anyone can possess. Here’s how to cultivate it:

1. First off – remember it’s a privilege to have a human body, no matter what condition it is in. You’re alive and have right now. What a gift!
2. Secondly – remember movement is medicine, powerful medicine. It has the power to transform and elevate your health and your life. It’s self-administered. You – and you alone – are in the driver’s seat.
3. Third – remember you are the dream of your long ago ancestors. They faced struggles and hardship not for you to be unwell, but for you to be strong, capable and full of life.

I was at a fancy restaurant recently and the staff seemed to be “too cool” for us. They has zero enthusiasm when asked about the menu or for guiding us in anyway. Sometimes it appears “cool” to show no enthusiasm (or have no enthusiasm), but to me, it’s not cool. Life can be tough and enthusiasm lifts us up. Enthusiasm is contagious, AND the opposite of enthusiasm is also contagious. Cultivate enthusiasm, especially when it comes to working out.
