Cultivating Confidence

Confidence is important. It helps us to better advocate for ourselves, to pursue our dreams, and to actualize big achievements. To me, confidence is a beautifier too, and I find confident people more attractive.

Studies have shown that regular exercise can increase self-confidence. How? For one, exercise releases endorphins, which can lead to improved mood and can help to reduce stress and anxiety. Two, regular exercise is a challenge, and to meet a challenge day after day, helps us to feel capable and strong. Three, exercise improves physical health, and in turn, physical appearance.  Basically, all roads of exercise can lead to increased confidence!

In our culture, we place importance on our kids’ and teenagers’ confidence levels, and of course, everyone wants a confidence child, but confidence is significant at every age.

Now that I’m in my fifties, I understand how confidence works. It isn’t set in stone. It’s not a mountain we climb once and have forever. Life inevitably “dings us” and confidence ebbs and flows. You and I need to continuously cultivate confidence and regular movement is a fabulous way to do just that.

There are tons of reasons to workout, but perhaps you’ll be extra motivated by this one – exercise boosts confidence.
