Be A Rare Bird

An “open” body is a major longevity hack. It’s also an energizer, beautifier, and vibration raiser. If you look around, you’ll see, open bodies are uncommon. Most adults are shut tight.

Allow me to explain…

First, what does closed mean? It means a lack of energy flow to, from, and within, the body.

Second, what does closed  look like? It’s misalignment where shoulders curl forward and the head is in front of the heart. It’s strain, and maybe even pain, in and around the joints. It’s inefficient breathing often coupled with an ungrounded/un-present mental state.

Third, how does one become closed? Well…the answer lies in the very obvious mind-body connect. There’s no doubt in my mind that emotions like fear, stress and grief tighten and restrict. These emotions get stuck in certain areas of the body and block flow. Then, there’s very basic lifestyle challenges, like exposure to prolonged cold weather, a lack of stretching, poor breathing, and poor sleep quality, that are also to blame.

Fourth, how can I open up? You’ve got options and embodiment is at the core of every option! For one, regular meditation and authentic (not faux) relaxation are powerful openers. They help us “let down our guard” in the best ways. Two, all forms of exercise, as long as it’s mindful so as to avoid the sensation of fight or flight, is incredible at enhancing energy flow. And three, massage and other forms of body work are (to quote Moulin Rouge) “spectacular spectacular” at opening up the body. BUT there’s one caveat…each of these three tools can’t be one-offs. You’ve got to make them part of your life, and do them regularly.

And last but not least, why does it matter? Well, I think staying open is the difference between surviving and thriving. Do you want to just get by or do you want to feel good, look great, and shine bright

Now I ask you two questions:
One, are you open?
And two, how about becoming the rare bird who’s not closed off?

Let’s Move!
