Adjust Accordingly

You know what I wore to workout today? A men’s v-neck sweater. Instead of my usual water bottle, I brought along a travel mug of piping hot chamomile ginger tea. And my post-workout ritual lately, with the wintery weather, is applying pomegranate oil to rehydrate my face. I’m embracing a hyggie vibe right now, and it’s really helping me keep my movement routine on track.

Hyggie or not, what I really want to hammer home is – season’s change, adjust accordingly.

“Adjusting” comes in all shapes and sizes. It might mean changing the time you workout. For example, it’s still dark out at 6am, so maybe 7:30am would be better for that power walk around the neighborhood. “Adjusting” might mean switching up your workout wardrobe and gear, or workout location, or even workout duration. There are times throughout the year where my energy needs more preserving, so quieter/gentler/shorter workouts are in order.

How do we know what to do, in order to then adjust? As the poet, Mary Oliver says, “Instructions for living a life…pay attention.”

Embodiment is synonymous with paying attention, and we’re in luck because enhanced embodiment is a natural byproduct of movement done right. The more your move mindfully, the louder and clearer the guidance from within becomes …and then you can adjust accordingly (and it’s a piece of cake!).

Pay attention. Be embodied. Let’s Move!
Go easy, but go – for you and I are in the midst of adjusting accordingly.
